Beyond Ur Mind: Lets Know About Memory Cards

In this article, lets learn about the two important things we need to consider while choosing a memory card, and lets improve our technical knowledge a little bit. SD card, we might have come through this word several times in our life, SD serves as the acronym for the word SECURE DIGITAL, named after its evolution after MMC(Multi Media Cards) which has become old-fashioned now after the SD card pervasion.

The first thing we need to consider is the capacity model, there are three basic kinds depending on the capacity, SDSC, SDHC, SDXC:

SDSC - Standard Capacity - 1MB to 4GB size

SDHC - High Capacity - 4GB to 32GB size

SDXC - eXtended Capacity - 32GB to 2TB size

The label based on capacity varies on each and every memory card as shown in the below figure:

The second thing we need to consider is the speed class, which determines, how fast we can transfer data between our computer and the memory card, the classes are labelled as follows:

This speed not only matters about data transfer, also based on the device it is used, because, very higher side devices like HD cameras needs more WRITE speed, so, we need to choose the device appropriately:

--- 02MBPS speed

--- 04MBPS speed

--- 06MBPS speed

--- 10MBPS speed

--- 30MBPS speed
